Quick and Delicious Palak Dal Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup yellow moong dal
  • 3 tablespoons chickpea lentils (chana dal)
  • 3 tablespoons white udad dal
  • 3 tablespoons black udad dal
  • 3 tablespoons toor dal
  • 3 tablespoons green moong dal
  • 1 bowl of spinach leaves
  • 2 medium-sized finely chopped onions
  • 2 medium-sized finely chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon green chilly paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon ghee
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 spoon cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 1/4 spoon asafoetida (hing)
  • 1 spoon garam masala
  • 1 spoon Kitchen King masala
  • 1 spoon Kashmiri red chilly powder
  • 1/2 spoon turmeric powder
  • 1 spoon coriander powder
  • 1 spoon kasuri methi
  • 1 spoon lemon juice
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves

Method

Wash and mix all the dals in a container and soak them for an hour. Now, heat oil and ghee in a cooker. Once they are added, add cumin seeds to the cooker. Once it is roasted, add asafoetida, green chilly paste, ginger paste, and garlic paste, and stir for about a minute. Then add finely chopped onions to the cooker, and the corresponding amount of salt. Wait for the onions to become pinkish in color. Then add finely chopped tomatoes to the mixture and let them cook for about 5-10 minutes. Then add all the masalas to the mixture, including red chilly powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, Kitchen King masala, kasuri methi, and salt.

Now add the finely chopped spinach leaves to the mixtures, stir and mix well, and let it cook for 2-3 minutes. Then rinse the water from the soaked dal and add them to the cooker. Now, add 1 to 1.5 glasses of water to the mixture and stir well. Now place the lid on the cooker. Wait for 5 to 6 whistles, then make the gas flame slow, let the mixture cook for 5 to 7 minutes, and turn off the flame. Once the cooker has cooled down, add lemon juice and coriander leaves to the mixture, mix well, and serve.

This dal is quite healthy and contains a good quantity of protein and fiber. This dal can be served with roti, naan, paratha, or rice. In the image above, you can see it getting served with multi-grain paratha.
